How to Draw an Arch Shape

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an arch shape in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big arch.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big arch

In the middle draw a big rainbow arch with 2 legs on the floor. Draw a smaller arch inside it.

Tip An arch is a rainbow with 2 legs.

  2. Step 2: 2 big eyes

At the top of the arch draw 2 big eyes, a small gap apart. Colour a black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: A smile

Under the eyes draw a small U smile, from under the left eye to under the right eye.

  4. Step 4: Rosy cheeks

Beside each end of the smile, leaving a gap, draw a small sideways oval for a rosy cheek.

  5. Step 5: A shine

In the top left of the arch draw one short curved shine line.

  6. Step 6: Sparkles on the left

On the left of the arch draw 2 small sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles on the right

Draw 2 more small sparkle stars on the right to match.

  8. Step 8: Shadow and floor

Draw a flat oval shadow round the bottom of both legs. Add a short floor line out from each side.

  9. Step 9: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks

Go over your lines. Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and both cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Grey shadow, purple arch

Colour the shadow grey. Colour the arch purple around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Your happy arch is done!
