How to Draw an American Flag
Draw an American flag in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flag pole.
Step 1: The flag pole
On the left draw a tall thin pole from near the bottom to near the top. Add a ball.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Wave the top edge out to the right, come down, and wave back.
Step 3: The star corner
Start on the pole, follow the wavy top to the middle, come down past halfway, wave back to the pole.
Step 4: Stripes
Draw 6 wavy lines for 7 stripes. Start at the star corner or the pole, stop at the right edge.
Step 5: Stars
In the star corner draw 6 big stars in 2 rows of 3, with space between them.
Step 6: Wind lines
Off the right edge of the flag draw 3 short wind lines.
Step 7: Ground line
Draw a long flat ground line under the pole, from the left side to the right side.
Step 8: Yellow ball, grey pole
Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.
Step 9: Red stripes
Colour the top stripe and every other stripe red, so the bottom stripe is red too.
Step 10: Blue star corner
Colour the star corner blue around the stars, leaving them white. Go over your lines and your flag is waving!
